How to Make an Impact in League of Legends as a Support

COMMUNICATION

Another key method to try to make an influence is to communicate effectively with your teammates. It’s critical to pay attention to your teammates conveying if an adversary has their Summoner Spells and other information, as well as Pings, especially if you’re playing from behind (player-related alerts). You’ll want to use vision and communication in unison to check whether the opposing champions are in a given location during this period, since getting caught off-guard may be catastrophic.

If it’s Laning Phase and you see the opponent Jungler is on Top Lane, you may type in chat and request for assistance from your own Jungler, or even try to establish a 2v2 game if you can. It’s critical to communicate quickly and clearly all of the time. You don’t want to overuse Pings since it may lead others to tune you out if you spam them, but it all relies on the information you’re conveying and whether or not you’re paying attention when other people Ping. For instance, Pings may be used to indicate when an opponent champion goes missing, when an enemy Jungler is seen, when an enemy utilizes their Summoner Spells, and when you need aid or when a Dragon is about to spawn. Another thing you can do is simply follow someone as they move to help your Jungler with Scuttle control or to put an offensive ward on them.

BOUNTIES DURING A LATE-GAME DEFICIT

Objective Bounties are another technique to try to make an effect when playing from behind. One approach to try to bridge the gold difference and acquire team gold for yourself and your teammates is to combine the various strategies I described above with going for Objective Bounties.

For instance, you can strive to acquire map dominance so one of your teammates can split push, in addition to planning your team’s actions and clustering around Dragon, Baron, or whatever other structure is up for an Objective Bounty reward for your team.

This is particularly useful if you know you won’t be able to contest a specific Dragon—perhaps your Jungler is dead—and rather than hoping for a steal, your team can split on the opposite side of the map, with you providing backup to one of your teammates or simply setting up wards in case the adversary shows up to stop them.

Trying to make plays with vision control and using Oracle Lens to combine with one or two other teammates to catch one of the adversaries’ carriers out of position may also be beneficial during this situation.

REMAIN CALM WHILE UNDER PRESSURE

Maintaining a level head and remaining composed is one of the most crucial things you can do. If you keep a cool head and attempt to communicate with your team about how powerful your carries are and whether or not you can take battles, you’ll be able to make better judgments overall. Continue to seek assistance with picks or to assist your teammates with vision, additional bodies to push down a low turret, or early vision control setup for Dragon/Baron.

When you combine warding, communicating, collecting Objective Bounties, and remaining calm under pressure, you’ll be a far more effective Support when playing from behind. Either way, best of luck and enjoy your time on the Rift!
